Oxford
The historic city of Oxford is famous for being home of the prestigious Oxford University - one of the oldest universities in England. Together with the university, the city is also famous for its captivating, gothic architecture. The city is known for being particularly beautiful during the spring with the blooming of wisteria. I visited Oxford for one day during the wisteria season, in May 2026. Some of the sights I managed to see on my trip included the famous Magdalen College, Radcliffe Camera, Divinity School and the Bridge of Sighs. I also stopped off at the Grand Cafe for some soup, tea and cake.

Bridge of Sighs
Hertford Bridge, better known as the Bridge of Sighs, is a famous bridge in Oxford. The bridge is situated on the University of Oxford campus, and is one of the most photographed sites of the city.

Bodleian Libraries

Radcliffe Camera
Radcliffe Camera is an impressive neo-Gothic structure which houses the reading rooms for the Bodleian Library.

Divinity School

Jesus College

Lincoln College
Lincoln College is one of Oxford's most attractive and intimate medieval colleges.

Magdalen College
The Magdalen College is without a doubt the most impressive of the Oxford colleges. I really enjoyed admiring the architecture, and photographing the wisteria-covered buidlings. This was my favourite spot to visit in Oxford.

Magdalen Bridge - Punting
Punting is a classic pastime of Oxford, one of the most well-known punt stations in the city is the Magdalen Bridge Boathouse.

The Grand Cafe
The Grand Cafe stands on the site of the oldest coffee house in England. I stopped by the Grand Cafe for some soup, tea and cake during my day trip to Oxford.

I would recommend Oxford for a wonderful day trip during the wisteria season.
