Grand Canyon

One of the Seven Wonders of the World, the Grand Canyon is an unbelievable spectacle of nature. Vast, magnificent and inarguably beautiful, the Grand Canyon is easily Arizona's most distinguishable landmarks. It is widely considered one of the finest examples of arid-land erosion in the world. Cut by the Colorado River, the canyon is immense, averaging 4,000 feet deep for its entire 277 miles. It is 6,000 feet deep at its deepest point and 18 miles at its widest. I've been lucky enough to see the Grand Canyon twice in my lifetime, once during a family holiday as a child, and again in May 2023 as a solo traveller.

Grand Canyon Western Ranch

Grand Canyon Western Ranch is a historical ranch dating back to the early 1900's, and was once owned by a notorious outlaw connected to the Hole in the Wall Gang. The ranch is the perfect place to get the all American cowboy experience. Just 15 minutes from the Grand Canyon's West Rim, the ranch is in the perfect location for exploring the Grand Canyon. I really enjoyed my stay at the Grand Canyon Western Ranch and would recommend it to anyone. The sunset horse ride to see the buffalo (or American bison) was the hightlight of my trip and was spectacular. I rode a beautiful Quarter horse called Utah. The American bison was named the national mammal of the United States on May 9, 2016. It was really special to see the America bison (or buffalo) for the first time in person. Another feature of the Grand Canyon Western Ranch which I particlarly loved was the nightly bonfire. Every night at 8.30pm, guests would sit around the bonfire to be entertained by a cowboy! This turned out to be a great way of getting us guests to interact and make conversation with one another after dinner. I stayed at the Grand Canyon Western Ranch for 3 nights in one of the wooden cabins.

What I missed out on....

If I ever get to visit Grand Canyon area again, I would like to take a trip to Hasavu Falls, see the Grand Canyon South Rim, and stay at the Under Canvas Grand Canyon resort.
