Palm Springs

Palm Springs is a desert resort city in Riverside County, California, United States, within the Colorado Desert's Coachella Valley. The city is noted for its mid-century modern architecture, design elements, arts, party and cultural scene. I embarked upon a sunshine-filled , solo visit to Palm Springs in September 2025 for 6 wonderful days.

The Saguaro Hotel, Palm Springs

The Saguaro Palm Springs is a colourful hotel which offers a bustling, vibrant pool party scene with weekend DJs and parties. I stayed at the Saguaro for 6 nights during my visit to Palm Springs in 2025. One of my favourite features of the hotel was the pool party.

Celebrity Homes Tour

I went on the two hour Celebrity Homes Tour during my stay in Palm Springs. We took a drive around the city and stopped off to view Elvis and Priscilla Presley's Honeymoon House, the Leonardo DiCaprio/Dinah Shore Estate, the Frank Lloyd-Wright Palmer House, the Pink Door House, and many other homes which are prime examples of the modernist architecture within Palm Springs.

Downtown Palm Springs

Downtown Palm Springs is famous for its high-end boutiques, cafes and restaurants. The famous 'Forever Marylin' statue is also located in Downtown Palm Springs, opposite the Palm Springs Art Museum. Marilyn Monroe's connection to Palm Springs is legendary. In 1949, at age 22, Marilyn was “discovered” in Palm Springs at Charlie Farrell's Racquet Club by William Morris talent agent Johnny Hyde. Many famous photos of Marilyn were taken around the Racquet Club's swimming pool. Marilyn briefly resided in Palm Springs later in life.

Joshua Tree

Joshua Tree National Park is a vast protected area in southern California. It's characterized by rugged rock formations and stark desert landscapes. Named for the region’s twisted, bristled Joshua trees, the park straddles the cactus-dotted Colorado Desert and the Mojave Desert. I took a guided tour to Joshua Tree with Adventure Hummer Tours.

What I missed out on....

Unfortunately, there is never enough time for somewhere as wonderful as Palm Springs. If I ever get to visit Palm Springs again in my lifetime, I would like to go to the Coachella Music & Arts Festival, and visit Pioneertown.

Coachella Music & Arts Festival

Coachella is an annual music and arts festival held at the Empire Polo Club in Indio, California, in the Coachella Valley in the Colorado Desert. Coachella is one of the most renowned music festivals in the world, attracting celebrities from all over the globe. I would love to have been able to visit Palm Springs during the Coachella Music & Arts Festival.
