The United States of America one of the largest countries in the world in area. There is so much to see in the USA, that it would take years to cover every state. The mainland USA is so big, it is split into four main regions. One region which I haven't manage to experience much of is the North East. My only visit to this region was in 2017, as a solo traveller to New York City. I have compiled a list of places that I would like to see in the future in the North East of the USA, comprised of some of the most well-know tourist areas, including Stowe, Nantucket, Bar Harbor, Acadia National Park, Salem, Martha's Vineyard and the Hamptons.

The North East

The Northeastern United States is one of the four census regions defined by the US Census. The North East is comprised of the states of Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, Vermont, New Jersey, New York, and Pennsylvania. The Northeastern region is the nation's most economically developed, densely populated, and culturally diverse region.

Stowe

Stowe is a pictureques town, located at the base of Mount Mansfield, Vermont's highest mountain. The town is popular for its ski slopes and bike trails. I would choose to visit Stowe during September-October, when fall colours are at their peak.

Nantucket

Nantucket, a tiny, isolated island off Cape Cod, Massachusetts, is a summer destination with dune-backed beaches. It’s marked by unpainted cedar-shingled buildings, many surrounded by manicured privets. The wharves and cobblestoned streets of the Town of Nantucket are lined with restaurants, high-end boutiques and steepled churches. The town’s Whaling Museum recounts the island’s role as a 19th-century whaling hub.

Martha's Vineyard

Martha's Vineyard is a picturesque island paradise, just 7 miles off the coast of Massachusetts but a world away from the hustle and bustle of the mainland.

The Hamptons

The Hamptons, on eastern Long Island's South Fork, is a string of seaside communities known as a summer destination for affluent New York City residents. It’s marked by long stretches of beach and an interior of farmland, towns and villages with 18th-century shingle buildings and estates hidden behind tall boxwood hedges. East Hampton is home to high-end restaurants, bars and designer boutiques.

Montauk

Montauk, New York, is a village at the east end of the Long Island peninsula. It’s known for its beaches, like Ditch Plains, with its strong Atlantic surf. At the peninsula’s tip, Montauk Point State Park is home to the 1796 Montauk Point Lighthouse.
